The
ancient Egyptians built the pyramids. The Greeks built the Parthenon.
And now you, too, can build an architectural wonder of your own,
contemporarily loved yet left to decay in the time span that follows!
That's right, if last week's competition was all about strength , this week's all about looks—build the highest tower out of this week's ingredients and WIN! Afterevent is at I-Tea Café! See you there!

Recap
Week 2. The perfect time to put all of your nice, shiny and new textbooks to use. And during this weeks episode of FUSION, we were able to construct a device to hold as many of our books as possible. You know, since you probably spent a hundred or so on textbooks, you're out of cash for a book shelf so why not make one out of newspapers, cardboard, and tape? Oh and of course, you're ahead of the times and we all know that the best way to store your textbooks is using a table. So, we made tables. Yes, out of newspaper. A paper table works. If it can handle a calculus textbook, it just might struggle with intermediate accounting. I guess accountants wouldn't be happy to see how we deal with out finances.
If my description sounded odd, it probably did, but don't worry, you can come to our future events and see how resourceful FUSION can be. Don't forget to check out the pictures, too!

FUSION's most epic event of the year?! Yep, I'm talking about Winter Retreat. If you missed Winter Retreat, unfortunately, my post cannot convey how amazing it is. What happened during Winter Retreat? FUSION movies (Funky Forest Part II)? Snowboarding? Snow play? Card games? Home cooked meals from FUSION? Mafia games? Mafia games that you'll talk about for the rest of your life? Mafia games that make you ponder about the meaning of life? FUSION bonding? Team building?! A nice warm and cozy cabin?
Well lots of things happened.

Recap
We've been recap-less for quite a while, but now we're back in business. Sadly, we're not embarking in the omelet business. To welcome winter quarter, we started with reverse egg drop. So what is this event? You make some form of "catcher" to cushion a falling egg. It's kind of like in movies when people jump out of a building and land on a some type of cushioning. Let's just call our main character of this event - humpty dumpty.

Welcome back! How was break? Excited for this quarter? Listen, do you
have a moment? I got this event description here that I'm typing out
right now... Long a staple of science classes worldwide, the egg drop has always been revered as one of the great elementary sci ence
projects of man, alongside the baking soda volcano and the potato
clock. A linchpin of childhood engineering, it has stood the test of
time and the laws of physics time and again to demonstrate our mastery
of gravity; our natural ability to defy its destructive powers through
sheer force of will. So fundamental is this project to the human
learning experience that only a few brave, hardened, possibly /insane/
souls would dare try and subvert it for their own gains.
Needless to say, we here at FUSION Laboratories make up a handful of
them. Forget your teachers, forget the police warnings, forget
everything you ever heard about throwing eggs from high places. Forget
the crates, too. This time, you're building the whole landing zone. SPECIAL:
• The meeting room location is subject to change. Management reasons, you understand. • FUSION's Winter Retreat is THIS WEEKEND! Event page is here to sort out rides, what to bring where we're going, etc.: http://www.facebook.com/events/344491528899231/ |
